  10-Channel Workflow Introduction

The 10-Channel Workflow takes advantage of the unique tonal characteristics of the different channels that are possible for any given image. This lesson examines The nature of the RGB channels and why value or tone is ultimately more important than color in crafting a great image. Using the Sunflower image from the previous lesson, we develop a basic strategy for approaching image enhancement using the 10-Channel Workflow:

  • Examine the RGB channels for the best overall contrast—apply luminosity of chosen channel for effect
  • Duplicate the image into Lab for color enhancement
  • Apply Lab image to RGB layer to replace color
  • Consider the "K" channel for shadow control.

Thank you Lee for those informative videos, one question popped to my mind while watching this one: Would you consider working in Lab mode all the time instead of RGB given the color advantage you demonstrated here?
